Kona
is located on the sunny, western coast of The Big Island of Hawaii. Divided into two districts – North Kona and South Kona, this region that is also known as “The Gold Coast,” is home to impressive resorts, gorgeous beaches and the largest city on Hawaii’s west coast - Kailua-Kona. The main street of this town is filled with quaint old shops and restaurants, and further into South Kona takes you to a string of small fishing villages with lots of interesting shops and gorgeous coastal scenery along the way. Kona is well known for their famous “Kona Coffee,” but the balmy weather, beautiful protected shores, and warm hospitality is the reason why Kona has gained worldwide recognition as a premier yachting destination, as well. Outdoor recreation – including swimming, snorkeling and kayaking – abounds here, and the dry, sunny weather, gentle trade winds and turquoise water makes it possible to enjoy year round. Big game fishing is very popular on Kona, where you’ll find some of the best conditions for world class fishing. There are dozens of yacht charters available to accommodate the novice, the seasoned and the professional angler. Kailua-Kona has also become a stopping point for an increasing number of international cruise ships, with October to May being the busiest season.
