Toronto
sits on the northwest shore of Lake Ontario, and is a major inland port within the Great Lakes system. This beautiful city has a protected harbor that is two miles long and one mile wide and is sheltered by a string of offshore islands. There are two harbor entrances, with a large industrial district located in the eastern end. Toronto’s lovely Harbourfront Centre can be easily accessed from either the Western or Eastern channel, and has docking for everything from dinghies to super yachts. Marina Four is the central docking area with a 100-slip marina surrounded by outdoor music festivals, an international marketplace, restaurants, shops and a nightclub. A building adjacent to Marina Four has washrooms, showers, laundry facilities and supplies. Marina Quay West is a gorgeous, serene 200-slip marina located just inside Toronto Harbour’s western gap. It’s situated beside the Toronto Music Garden and is just a ten-minute walk to Toronto’s famous Sky Dome. John Quay Marina is located near Marina Four and is ideal for those planning a shorter visit. Toronto is a cultural and entertainment center with one of the best shopping districts in Canada. Places to visit include the islands of Harlan’s Point, Centre Island, Wards Island, the Gibraltar Island Lighthouse and the Nautical Centre. The Harbourfront also has tour and charter boats available that provide hour-long tours of the Inner Harbour, as well as romantic dinner cruises, private parties, weddings and corporate receptions.
